We were cracking a lot of jokes about him. One question about the nickname you use: Kashe d'Anthe. I can see the cash bit but where does the rest come from? Enjoyed your book by the way. Perhaps I was wrong to assume that he now felt calling a fellow cyclist a "cunt" was a bit OTT. If I was wrong, I apologise to you both.
Saying Julian's writing is "really good" is surely a compliment to anyone? To not think that is a wee bit defensive and paranoid. It certainly was only meant as a compliment and to show I hold no ill-will against Julian (or Mark).
There are aspects of my life in adventure which I'm sure Julian doesn't agree with, but I can live with it all, and certainly don't see this as "close to the bone" - I cycled round the world, self-funded, without a penny of corporate sponsorship.
I'm sorry you don't like my writing, but I accept as an author that there will always be better writers than myself, and there'll always be readers who don't like what I do.
AlastairAlastairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06829180067315396094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161222802145767547.post-70872965958523932792015-03-05T22:03:22.883+00:002015-03-05T22:03:22.883+00:00bit boring really, todays twentysomethings need to...bit boring really, todays twentysomethings need to shout about everything online. He has a copy for me when I get back. I like Marmite read, makes for something interesting I think and anyway, the normal rules apply, if you don't like what you are seeing/reading/hearing, Walk Away!! Your assertion that an apology is "missing" is quite condescending as is the statement that Julian's writing is "really good". With the greatest of respect the above blog post is far more thought provoking and to my mind positive, than any of your material that I have ever read, especially your "micro adventure" comic book. I think perhaps your are dabbling in psychology with your comment, maybe this is because Julian's post is a little close to the bone.

Frank SpearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161222802145767547.post-50998032329648030802014-06-05T17:56:24.448+01:002014-06-05T17:56:24.448+01:00Hi Julian,

I appreciate that you haven't deleted it, and admire that you are confident in your views and so forth.
The only thing that is missing from your edited postscript at the top is a personal apology. Mark Beaumont is a nice guy, and a good person. Surely you can apologise to him without having to retract your views on the world?
All the best of luck with your book - you're a really good writer.
Best Wishes,
Alastair HumphreysAlastairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06829180067315396094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161222802145767547.post-44653748257956406312014-06-05T15:01:32.890+01:002014-06-05T15:01:32.890+01:00Quite.Quite.Bob Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08228573975833256987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161222802145767547.post-1915985752112985882013-10-27T15:18:37.523+00:002013-10-27T15:18:37.523+00:00Yes.Yes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161222802145767547.post-52475380302611617892013-06-22T14:52:22.516+01:002013-06-22T14:52:22.516+01:00Well said.Well said.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
